Nothing Funny About Being Overweight
Having struggled with my weight all my life, I know the armor one develops to get you through the day-to-day goings on of life. It’s hysterical when you think about it. You don’t like to work out at a gym, because everyone there knows you are trying to loose weight. DUH!!!!! Everyone will see you, what if you look goofy in or on one of the machines. What if you get a cramp, everyone will know, cuz only fat people get cramps. Our truths become so distorted, things that all people struggle with are ten times worse when you are overweight. Thin people take bad pictures too, but fat people feel like all their pictures are taken in a fun house.
Most women say that they have three different sizes of clothes in their closet that they choose from. I have the clothes that don’t fit, barely fit, and didn’t fit when I bought them. As women we have forced ourselves to believe that we must fit into a certain size. Who cares if we can’t bend down to help our child that has fallen off their bike, because the size fourteens will cut off our circulation? We won’t buy a sixteen, nope, not gonna happen. Won’t be the first time our child falls, the cut will heal.
We will buy Spanx, wear support tank tops anything that will help us look thinner. But we think it through, if we are going to see someone and we are in danger of having to hug them especially if they are male, then we might not wear the supportive garment. That poses a whole new problem, what is my best thin outfit?
Women that are overweight are the most resourceful people. We are planners, and make any outfit work. The thought of going on a diet is real and in our minds everyday, but just so unattainable. If you really think about it, we are doing our part to keep the economy going. See, we really believe that a bacon cheeseburger and fries for $2 is a value. So we buy them. Buying a salad is nearly six bucks. If we spend another dollar we could get a shake. See, very resourceful. Without us there would be no Jenny Craig, Nutri-System, Weight Watchers, Fat burning pills. Without us, the doctors couldn’t treat for hypertension, diabetes or make money from gastric bypass. Without us, the pharmaceutical companies would not be able to get doctors to write scripts for blood pressure meds and so forth. We keep the circle going. Think of how many people would be out of work, if overweight people did not exist.
Wow, look at the time, it 10:30 time for my mid morning snack.
